Oracle NetSuite’s Thomas Sutter delivers a keynote presentation on unlocking Smart Growth in fintech with Cloud ERP and AI at FinTech LIVE London

Held at the QEII Centre in the heart of Westminster, London, our annual two-day conference FinTech LIVE London was a disruptive learning and networking event showcasing the industry’s leading figures across innovation, thought leadership and strategy.

Thomas Sutter, Industry Director, Finance & Global Solutions for Oracle NetSuite

Oracle: The new age of cloud services

Delivering his presentation on Stage 1, Thomas Sutter, Industry Director, Finance & Global Solutions for Oracle NetSuite discusses ways fintechs can achieve growth smarter, leveraging Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and AI technologies.

For Sutter, we are now “in the age of true cloud” services. This isn’t just software sitting in the cloud, but a cloud service not limited by storage or the number of users on it.

He expands: “If you have a server in the cloud, you're still in that software age because you still have those same problems, those same limitations. In today’s true cloud age, everybody’s on the same version and getting regular updates from the same product.”

True cloud services today can be vital for entrenching partnership networks too, as Sutter notes: “If you have true cloud system technology and you’re leveraging open API, and you’re doing so in conjunction with a strong partner community – your partners can actually go and build within your product.

“Essentially, your partners become an extension of the product team – they’re all working together.”

The true cloud age: leveraging new AI models

Sutter attributes the dawn of today’s true cloud age to new AI models. “Unlike in the software age,” Sutter starts, “personal computers were training AI in one specific task. This foundation-type model took in a lot of data, learned from it and was tuned to specific data with human prompting.

“Now that we're in the true cloud age, we’ve developed new models of training AI. This is why we've seen so much activity these last few years.”
